About the Role

Sharestates is launching an effort to expand our legal team to support the growth in the business. As such, we have identified the need for a Real Estate Closing Attorney to support the growing volume of real estate loan closings. For this role we are seeking a highly capable team member with a history of success supervising and approving loan closings. The Real Estate Closing Attorney will report to our Director of Lending Operations.

Your Impact

This new role will support the increasing volume of loan closings and the broader activities of the Lending Operations team. You will coordinate with members of our legal & regulatory team as it relates to emerging risks and regulation. You will help improve efficiency and increase customer loyalty by helping to shorten the time required to close a loan and thereby help to increase loan volume. You will ensure that our closing process is efficient, and our customers has a positive experience. You will confirm we have all required information to protect our interest as a lender prior to loan funding. You will interact with other members of the lending operations team as well as outside attorneys to keep closings on track and meet customer expectations. You will provide feedback to our technology team to help improve our technology platform.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate with New York state bar admission. Multi-state bar admission preferred
  • 1+ years as practicing attorney in real estate, experience in a law firm environment preferred
  • Expertise in real estate law

About the Role

Sharestates is launching an effort to expand our lending operations team to support the expected growth in our business. As such, we have identified the need for a Senior Real Estate Underwriter in our Underwriting & Valuation team to help support the expected increase in loan origination volume. The Senior Real Estate Underwriter will report to the Director of Lending Operations and play an important role in supporting our growth. For this role we are seeking a highly capable team member with a history of success in underwriting loans on SFR (1-4 units) and multi-family properties.

Exceptional candidate will have an opportunity for advancement and upward mobility within the organization.

Your Impact

You will be part of a team of senior underwriters responsible for coordinating and conducting loan level due diligence. You will be responsible to ensure each loan conforms to our underwriting guidelines. You will manage a pipeline of loans submitted for closing. You will interact with other areas of the firm, including sales, processing and the closing teams. Once approved, you will issue updated final underwriting approval with terms and assign to legal team/attorney. You will document your activities in our technology platform and provide feedback to improve. You will perform other ad-hoc projects related to loan performance and our underwriting guidelines.

As part of your loan due diligence you will:

  • Review contingencies and underwrite rehabilitation and construction budgets
  • Carry out requisite loan calculations (LTV, LTC, ARV, DSCR, DTI, etc.)
  • Verify market comparable for both rental values as well as property sale values
  • Conduct appraisal analysis to determine that acceptable collateral standards are met
  • Review and approve third party reports including property appraisals, physical needs assessments, environmental reports, lease abstracts and others as required.
  • Keep informed of current Secondary Market guidelines
  • Maintain productivity level and turn times as established by management.

You will develop and track performance across our loan portfolio to identify areas of risk. You will track trends related to loan payment, performance and other metrics against loan underwriting criteria at origination & borrower characteristics. Qualifications

About the Role

Investors Loan Servicing is launching an effort to expand our servicing operations team to support the expected growth in our business. As such, we have identified the need for a Loan Servicing Analyst - Rehab Draws to help support the expected increase rehab draws disbursements in the loan portfolio. This role will play an important role in satisfying post-closing obligations to disburse rehab funds as work is verified complete, while also monitoring risk on each construction project. The Loan Servicing Analyst - Rehab Draws will report to the Director of Loan Servicing Operations.

Your Impact

You will help improve efficiency and increase customer loyalty by executing loan servicing related duties each day. You will intake, process and approve rehab draw disbursements for our borrowers. You will limit risk and ensure that only work completed is eligible for reimbursement. You will work with external vendors and our institutional clients to ensure disbursements receive the appropriate approval. You will coordinate and share your findings with other members of the servicing operations team, Asset Management and senior management. Your Impact

This new role will support senior management by navigating the regulatory environment and managing risk in our real estate businesses. You will be involved in complex business transactions in negotiating critical contracts. You will judge the merits of major court cases filed against or on behalf of the company, works with the appropriate executive(s) to define a strategic defense and approves settlements of disputes where warranted. You will manage the legal function and oversees the work of outside foreclosure counsel. You will advise on legal aspects of the company’s financing, including assessing and advising on current and future business structures and legal entities.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate with New York state bar admission. Multi-state bar admission preferred
  • At least 5 years as practicing attorney in real estate, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a law firm environment
  • Experience working on matters of corporate governance

Education and Experience
  • Degree from an accredited US university and completion of a corporate paralegal course of study from an approved US paralegal training institution, or an equivalent combination of education and corporate or law firm legal experience.
  • This position requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a corporate paralegal either in a corporate legal department, a commercial US law firm, or a financial services regulatory body.
  • Regulatory and compliance experience in either an insurance company or a bank is an advantage.
  • Strong research capabilities using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research platforms and resources.

You will work with the Underwriting team and Secondary Loan Sales team to support the exception clearing process from 3rd party loan reviews.
